2018 Extracurriculars

Tentative Plans for the L&L Weekend

All plans are currently tentative! It's still a ways out, but there have been some great ideas bounced around.

As always there is no obligation for anyone to do ANY of these things - if you're content swaying in the breeze with a book, enjoy!

  • Some have tossed around the idea of a kayak trip down the New Meadows River.
  • There is also the possibility of a Whale Watch Tour. (No, not a 3 hour tour, Gilligan.)
  • All Lighthouses on Saturday, September 8th will be open to the public for tours. Some require tickets to climb to the top, others are a first come first serve. You are welcome to take the beautiful drive and see as many as you can. Please do your research first as these will be very busy places. Our host, Tom (tom@tommixon.com) is a wealth of knowledge about the history and lore of many of the local lights.

But of course there will always be a late afternoon raffle followed closely by a delicious Lobster Dinner.

Stay Tuned! Will Update as plans firm up!

2018 Raffle Information

Happy Fifth Anniversary L&L!

Can you believe this will be our fourth charity raffle? We didn't have a raffle on the first year, but many of us didn't know it would turn into THE Hang we all look forward to.

Did you know that collectively we have raised $2,891 for various charities over the years?

Our charity this year - The Lighthouse Preservation Society!

Yes, this is our second year donating to this fantastic organization. They do such great work keeping our national treasures up, running, and open to the public, that we needed to support them. Recently they have secured funds through Congress for major repairs and maintenance of lighthouses up and down the entire East Coast! Yep, this organization doesn't just do those fantastic Maine lighthouses we trek up to see - they do ALL the historic lighthouses across the country!

As always - you are welcome to bring a private donation along for the raffle. No well meaning raffle items turned away. We attract a wide range of campers, not just hangers, at this hang and there are always people looking for gear!

Ticket prices are still $1 with no limit.

While last year we changed up the raffle format, we are currently undecided on how it will be handled this year. We're just waiting on some more feedback from previous attendees so that we can finalize how we're going to do it. So if you'd like to weigh in, please let us know.

See you in September!

2017 Lighthouse Tour

We'll be taking a boat out to see the Haunted Lighthouse of Sequin.  The cost is $30 per adult, and $25 per child under 12.

The tour will leave from Popham at approx 2:30 and we'll return 2 hours later.

The raffle will follow as soon as the tour returns, followed by LOBSTAH!

If boats aren't your thing, or if you'd like to check out other lighthouses, you are free to do so.  There are a number of lighthouses within an hour drive that are open.

List of open lighthouses on Maine Lighthouse Day.
